Lac de Castillon near Castellane

The Lac de Castillon is the first reservoir of the Verdon River and is located in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon. The Lake has a length of 8 km between Castellane and Saint-André-les-Alpes and it is about 500 ha. When it comes to surface area, this is the second largest reservoir in the Valley of the Verdon, after the lac de Sainte-Croix.

Views

The views of the Lac de Castillon, with azure water, are very different from the environment. It resembles the mountain lakes of the nearby Alps. From the road next to the lake you have a wonderful view of the 95 metre high and 200 metre wide canyon of the Verdon

Swimming

Swimming is allowed in the Lac de Castillon. There are several (guarded) beaches where you can enjoy yourself in the summer months and can sunbathe for hours.

Hiking

In the mood for a nice walk? Around the Lac de Castillon, there are several hiking trails that lead you through beautiful woods and let you discover beautiful ponds.

Water sports

There is plenty to do for sports enthusiasts, including canoeing, boating or riding a motorboat or sailboat. This is possible in Castellane, Saint-Julien-du-Verdon or in Saint-André-les-Alpes.
