For all the sporty people who go on holiday to this part of France, there are plenty of sports to do. You can go cycling, hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, canyoning and much more in this area of the French  Alps.

Hiking

The Haute-Savoie and especially the Portes du Soleil has beautiful landscapes which are great for going on all sorts of hikes. After every turn on the winding mountain roads you will be greeted by a completely different landscape. Especially during the winter but also in the summer, the mountain tops are covered with snow. You can either hike on an easy path or go higher into the mountains where there is more of an elevation difference. Rafting

Rivers flow down to the valleys from the snowy peaks of the Alps. When the snow starts to melt, the water in these rivers rush down with great speed making it a great place to go rafting. In parts where the riverbed is narrow, the water swirls and roars with great force against the boulders. For rafting enthusiasts, these are the most challenging places to conquer. Kayaking

If you are less experienced or just want to take it easy, go kayaking. You can either go into a kayak with your partner or child, or you can go by yourself. You can also go on a kayaking tour with a group and stop at various villages to rest on a terrace, during your trip. Kayaking is a perfect way to explore the most beautiful places from a completely different point of view.

Mountain climbing

The high mountains and especially Mont Blanc let the hearts of mountaineers race and they have an irrepressible urge to climb the mountains. They often do so in groups and are equipped with all the necessary equipment. Yearly, many mountaineers attempt to reach the top. There are also less intense trails which you can do together with a guide and where you climb somewhat easier mountains.

Via Ferrata

This special sport requires necessary experience and endurance. Brackets and supports that are connected to each other with ropes, have been built onto the rock walls . You are securely attached to these ropes whilst you move along the trail both sideways and up and down. Alternative winter sports

Would you like to do something other than skiing or snowboarding for a day? Go on a dog sledding tour! Or what about car racing on an ice circuit? In some places you can also go night skiing! The slope is illuminated but for the rest you will only be able to see the lights of the houses in the villages below. Snow MTB is also popular. Race through the snow on a MTB with thick tires with a group or by yourself!
