Ski slopes in the Alps

Due to the wide choice of slopes, this huge ski area is ideal for both novice and experienced winter sports enthusiasts. There are descents here of all kinds of levels. The area is most perfect for the average winter sports enthusiast. In search for more of a challenge? Then you should try the steepest, the longest or the most beautiful  slope!

Skiing in the Alps at various levels

Les Portes du Soleil has exciting blue slopes, but also has challenging red runs. There are relatively fewer black slopes, but the black slopes that are in the area are deep black and are only reserved for advanced skiers. In total there is around 300 km of red and black slopes. Beginners can master the sport on the various descents and there are plenty of ski schools that want to help with this. During your descent you can enjoy some of the most beautiful views, but be sure to keep your attention on the slopes whilst going off of the Mur Suisse or the Coup de Monde.

Special slopes: the steepest, the longest, the most beautiful!

Le Mur Suisse

In Avoriaz, located in  the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, lies the legendary steep slope "Le Mur Suisse". The slope has an average slope of 76% and a height difference of over 400 meters, which explains the name of this perpendicular slope. All other slopes are prepared and worked on during the night but nothing is done to this particular slope. The entire descent is always covered in extreme bumps throughout the whole day. The slope is a combination of the bumpy descent of a mogul slope and an exciting descent of a  black slope and certainly a must do during your winter sports holiday in Les  Portes  du Soleil.

Aigle Rouge

The challenging red slope Aigle Rouge is also very popular in the area. The Aigle Rouge is a long red slope that takes you from the highest point of Point de Nyon all the way to the  Nyon lift. The upper part is a narrow path with hairpin bends, but these soon disappear and the slope turns into a wide slope that becomes steeper again at the end. A very varied ride!

Grand Paradis

The Grand Paradis is the longest slope in the Portes du Soleil with an astonishing  7 kilometer long section which makes it the perfect descent for fanatic skiers. The first part of the descent is wide, quiet and provides the skier with beautiful views.

Coup de Monde

The black slope the Coup de Monde is spectacular enough by itself, but if you are at the top of the slope it will become even more evident what makes this slope so special, namely the stunning views. This makes the start of this black slope really spectacular. The piste is accessible by taking the Haut Forts chairlift and the slope ends at the bottom of Les Prodains.

Belette

The Belette has a very different charm. The piste starts at Plaine Dranse in Châtel and is a 3.5 kilometer long green slope through the trees. The slope runs all the way to Pre La Joux. It is a beautiful slope for skiers who like to ski in nature.

Extra challenge: fun parks

Are you an advanced winter sports enthusiast and are you looking for a challenge? In Portes du Soleil you will find many different options for this. There are 9 fun parks to explore. A unique fun park is the Snow Park The Stash, which is located in a completely natural environment. In addition, all obstacles in the  snow park are made entirely of wood. It consists of 3 different parts, each with its own obstacles and level of difficulty. In total, the park covers 1.3 kilometers.
