Water fun during your holiday in Abondance

During the summer, it is very popular among adults and children visiting the Portes du Soleil in France to enjoy the water and have a lot of water fun. If this is the case be sure to visit an aquapark or go rafting on the river Dranse. Lake Geneva

Lake Geneva is the largest inland lake in Europe and is located on the border of France and Switzerland. One of the most famous tourist sites on Lake Geneva is the Fountain of Geneva, the Jet d'Eau. Water is sprayed out of the fountain 140 metres into the air at a speed of 200 km/h. Lake Geneva attracts many tourists during both the summer and winter. Water sports enthusiasts will get their money's worth exploring all the sports possibilities on the vast lake, especially during the summer when you can do activities such as swimming, sailing, surfing and water skiing. Or do you want to take it a little easier? Then you should take a cruise in a passenger boat or book a culinary cruise. There are regular tour boats, historic paddle boats and small ferries. Rafting

In Portes du Soleil rafting is practiced on the River Dranse, a river that flows from the Alpine mountains to Lake Geneva. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in France. Rafting is an exciting group activity where you sit in a rubber boat with 4, 6, 8 or 10 people and brave the wild rivers and rapids together. The quiet parts of the river are interspersed with strong currents, which makes it very varied, but also intensive! Make sure you avoid the boulders in the river, if not then there is a good chance that the raft will turn over and you’ll end up in the water. Do you want to experience an even more spectacular rafting adventure? Then you should most definitely go Rebel Rock Rafting in the Dranse. With this type of rafting you go with two in a small raft. Vonnes, the recreational lake in Châtel

The lake Vonnes is located in Châtel, near FranceComfort AlpChalets Portes du Soleil. In the middle of the lake there is a large fountain that sprays the water over 40m high. On and around the lake there are plenty of recreational activities you should definitely give a go. You can rent a peddle boat or you can try a stand up paddle board on the water. It’s more difficult then it seems to stay afloat on such a board! You can walk and cycle around the lake and there is also a playground for children.

Fishing in Lac de Vonnes and Lac la Mouille

The lakes Lac de Vonnes and Lac la Mouiile in Châtel and the river Dranse are ideal for a day of fishing. To go fishing here you need a fishing card which you can either buy online or on site at the lake. If you are looking to improve your fishing techniques you could also take a fishing lesson. These lessons are taught every week at the Lac de Vonnes in a group of maximum 15 people. At the Lac la Mouille there are also special fly fishing lessons. For both of these lessons you can register at the Tourist Office of Châtel.

Forme d'O – swimming pool in Châtel

In Châtel there is a swimming complex called Forme d'O. In this complex you can enjoy sports, relaxation and wellness. The swimming pool is open all year round. Both during the summer and winter, guests can swim in the indoor and outdoor pools. The complex is perfect for relaxing in during the winter after a day of skiing or in the summer to cool off from the heat. Recreational lake with Wibitpark in Les Gets

In Les Gets there is a popular recreational lake with many facilities. From your apartment in Abondance it is around a half an hour drive away. For children and the elderly it is nice to go here during the holidays. A day of water fun during a hot summer day is always a successful day.

On the lake there is also the Wibit Waterpark, a floating playground where children who are older than 8 years old can play and swim around. There are obstacle courses, a slide, (water) climbing walls, a monkey cage, bouncy castles, a human catapult and much more. There is also a smaller, separate area intended for children between 6 and 8 years. The children are given a life jacket and are supervised whilst playing in the playground by qualified employees. Aquaparc Bouveret on Lake Geneva

Aquaparc Bouveret, one of Europe's largest water parks, is located just across the border with Switzerland. This beautiful Aquaparc is mostly covered so that it can be open during both the summer and winter. The park has all kinds of slides and other animation which are divided into four groups: children, family, sensation and outdoors. Are you looking for an exciting day out during your holiday in France? Then visiting Aquaparc Bouveret is a great idea. It is around a 50 min. drive from FranceComfort AlpChalets Portes du Soleil. L'espace Aquatique

This swimming pool is located in Morzine. The pool was built not so long ago and has several baths, a sauna and hammam. It offers water fun for the whole family. There is a kids paddling pool with games and also an 80m. long slide. There are also spacious terraces and sunbathing areas.

Aquariaz

Tropicpool in Avoriaz. Small children can play with a water tree with water jets and a slide. Daredevils can try the climbing wall built up of wooden boulders or the Slidewinder. To relax, you can choose from gently flowing rivers, hot tubs or the outdoor pool.

Pool Champéry

In Champéry, just across the border with Switzerland, there is a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The pool is surrounded by high mountains meaning you can enjoy beautiful views whilst relaxing in the water. The swimming pool is surrounded by spacious sunbathing areas.

Pool Morgins

There is also an outdoor swimming pool with sunbathing areas in Morgins where you can relax and sunbathe. Morgins is also just across the border with Switzerland but it is only a fifteen minute drive away from your apartment. This pool provides plenty of entertainment for both young and old to enjoy a perfect holiday day.

Thermal baths of Lavey les Bains

The thermal baths of Lavey les Bains are also very popular, these thermal baths have saunas, steam baths, an outdoor pool with hot tubs, rapids and sunbeds. There is also an indoor swimming pool with "underwater music". There is even an ice cave and a plunge pool.

Thermes Parc in Val d'Illiez

If you are looking for a day of relaxation you should go to Thermes Parc in Val d'Illiez. This thermal bath consists of several indoor and outdoor pools with water with a temperature of almost 32 °C degrees. The water originates from three sources and has a very high sulfur, calcium and magnesium concentration. The spa area is completed by various saunas and whirlpools.
