Evening markets: food, music and fun

As the sun sets, the marchés gourmands begin – evening markets full of aromas, flavours and music. Long tables are set up and stalls serve grilled meat, salads and wine.
Children play in the square, while adults enjoy live music and conversations with locals. Late in the evening you return to your accommodation in France.

The 10 most beautiful markets in the Dordogne-Lot

1. Sarlat-la-Canéda (23 km)
The most famous and beautiful market in the region. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the medieval town fills with aromas of cheese, truffle and fresh bread. The atmosphere is unique and the setting unforgettable.

2. Martel (10 km)
Charming and close to Domaine de Lanzac. On Wednesdays and Saturdays you will find honey, nuts and regional cheese. A real village market with music and fun.

3. Souillac (5 km)
On Fridays and Saturdays, the center of Souillac is bustling with life. In summer, the markets turn into festive evenings with food, wine and music.

4.Gourdon(15 km)
An atmospheric market with fresh produce and artisanal cheeses – ideal place to buy produce for a picnic at your luxury villa in the Dordogne-Lot with private pool.

5. Rocamadour (17 km)
A market with a view: nestled among the rocks, in the summer you will find local dishes, wine and goat's cheese (Rocamadour AOP). In the evening, the village is bathed in warm light.

On Thursday morning, the air fills with lavender, truffle oil and crêpes. From the square, you will have a breathtaking view of the Dordogne valley.

7. Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (30 km)

Real farmer's market with meat, honey and vegetables. Authentic, simple and pure.

9. Meyssac (38 km)

Practical tips for market visitors

  • Time: Most markets are open from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Come early for the best selection.
  • Payment: Bring cash with you – you can't pay with card everywhere.
  • Parking: Usually free just outside the centre.
  • Season: May to September is the best period, with many additional night markets.
  • Tip: Bring a cloth bag or basket – plastic is not common here.
